I havent posted on this forum before, as I only came across it tonight, so I hope someone can help me out.

I am looking for an Alaskan Malamute breeder in Hertfordshire or the surrounding area.

Hi Helen! Your best bet is to contact the breed clubs and ask for details of reputable breeders who health-test their breeding animals. There are a lot of breeders who simply churn out pretty puppies to feed a market and who don't care two hoots about the longterm future wellbeing of their dogs.

As JG said, your first port of call should be the breed club. Here is the link to their website which includes an approved breeders list (please make sure you do your own research too though).

I wouldn't make distance a criteria when choosing a breeder - we travelled over 650 miles to bring home one of our pups You are far better off finding out the type you like, making sure the sire and dam have had all the necessary health tests done (with satisfactory results ) and that the dogs have good temperaments along with satisfying all the criteria laid out in the AMCUK's CoE.
