Hiya, I'm looking for a home-reared young lady to join our family home. Walks and plenty of love guaranteed! Must be good with children. We have a limited income so looking for a price under £250 I know its a big ask this cheap but hoping someone with a big heart will come forward. I've spent the last 6 months scanning through ads trying to find the dog for us, but the majority have been scams, or gone, or too far away. I will drive quite a distance to pick her up (I'm in the midlands) - but am not paying for delivery as this is a common scam - I wouldn't anyway, the dog would be way more stressed then if I picked her up.
I hope (we hope) someone will help.
Thanks

Have you tried rescue?

The rescue centres around here will not give dogs to a home with children under 12, although my two have been brought up so far with a dog around and are very good. I was kinda hoping for a pure breed one too, and most dogs in rescues are mixed breed. I've always owned mixed breed dogs and know they are not inferior in any way, but I'd like to have the option of having one litter from her at some point and it would be better to have a pure breed to breed from, purely because homes for the pups would be easier to find. I'm aware of the cost and complications that breeding can cause, I'm not thinking about it as a whim. I'd get lots of help and advice before going through with breeding, and may not decide to do it, it just would be good to have the possibility available.

Sorry, but if you can't manage to wait and save the money for a well bred Beagle pup then all thoughts of breeding should be forgotten

Breeding from a bitch is a very expensive business and the money has to be available for all eventualities. There is no point in breeding second best dogs - even for pets, they cost as much to rear as first class pups and far more to keep - in vets bills. Why not contact the Beagle clubs and enquire about a rescue? That way you would be able to own the breed and be in a position to learn more in preparation for breeding at a future date when money is no problem.

Hi Miggi i havepm'd you
The way i look at it, if you cant afford to pay the asking price for a nicely bred puppy, how are you going to afford to raise it, and what if something happened and it needed veterinary treatment??
No offence meant, but i wouldnt be looking to get a dog on a limited income if you cant save enough to pay for the pup and raise it...

Hiya,
Ok, done alot of thinking this end, and research, and I think I'm going to look for a rescue, not just looking at beagles, I'm not going to breed now I think, not just because we are on a low income, but because I would be absolutely heartbroken if things did go wrong. I would have loved to try but its just not realistic emotionally or financially. I'm best to just find a little friend who needs a home and thats it. I am disappointed and its a hard decision to give up on a dream I've had for this long. Maybe one day I'll get a chance but for now the dream stays a dream.
Thanks for your help,
Marie
