So very sorry, so young.
The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue.

So sorry, Maxine

As for not belonging on here. YOU DO!!!!! You are still ewelcome here even if you havnt a dog. And am sure you will get another one soon. I know that if I didnt have the other 2 I would haqve been looking for a new dog now, only about 6 weeks after Gemma going to the bridge.

Hi,
I cant believe how supportive you have all been - I just hope you will all feel the same now I am able to give you an idea of what happened.
I had to make the decision for the vet to put Louis to sleep - this was due to behaviour and temperament getting to a stage where it was impossible to carry on.
As Lea said in her post you know when THE TIME has come - there was no other possibility and I have to tell myself that Louis will now never feel anxious, insecure or fearful again. I loved him from the first time I saw his face in the rescue centres photo and every minute of every day since and will miss him forever more
thank you everyone for your kind words
Maxine

You tried as hard as you could with him Maxine - long past the time when most would have given up on him - and when it became apparent that he wasn't going to be able to live a normal life, you made the kindest and most responsible decision.
Don't think anyone here is going to knock you for that.
Hugs from me,
Marina

I've learned...that life is like a roll of toilet paper.
The closer it gets to the end, the faster
Of course we feel the same....you are right, louis must have been unhappy and fearful and you did the bravest and best thing you could for him. You let him go to a better place despite knowing how much you would miss him. there is no kinder act you could have done for him. I am so sorry for your loss.

Maxine, you have nothing to reproach yourself for. You did what was best for your family and for Louis and that's what responsible dog ownership is about...however tough and heartbreaking that can be at times

Louis had a loving, caring home with you and that love and care is reflected in the fact that you made the hardest, and only, decision for the best possible reasons. It takes courage, strength and a huge amount of love to do that.

Oh Maxine, I think that's even harder for you. What a tough decision and I don't envy you one little bit.

I can think of a few dogs around my neighbourhood that I wish had owners as caring and compassionate as you.

Maxine you are a very caring and loving person and you did what was best for Louis as his quality of life was not one that was sustainable.
It must have been an extremely hard thing for you to decide and I commend you for being so brave.
