I am looking for a male GSD long haired puppy in the West Sussex area.  Dark/tan colour.

I have been advised to get a male due to owning a 5 year old Golden Retriever.  This will be my fourth shepherd, after losing my beloved boy last year l would very much love to have another one.

There are no Tan GSDs there are  Black, Black & Tan, Black & Gold, Black, Gold, Grey Sables, & Bi Colours

There are always lots of longcoated GSDs in rescue & there are lots of GSD rescues in the South of England

If you prefer a puppy then look for longcoated GSD & not longhaired

Very sorry l was not politically correct but have just come off a night shift working as a nurse

Thanks for the advice, my daughter works for a rescue kennels and we have been unable to find a suitable GSD to be with our 5 year old male Golden Retriever. We have to be careful with him as he is blind in one eye (from birth) and very nervous. We have been advised a puppy would be more suitable.

I have owned four GSD`S now, lost our precious boy last year.

I just wanted to say I don't think the previous poster was being picky, but if your using search engines you will come up with more results using the correct terminology.  Good luck with your search.

I would personally be looking for a breeder who breeds to the standard and happens to have some long coat pups in the litter,a nd of course the parents should both be hip scored with acceptable results and the sire should be Hemophilia A tested.

The breed clubs are listed here: http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/136 and if you contact the secretaries they may know of well bred litters that have some long coat pups.  By going to a breeder breeding with the standard, health and temperament in mind you have the best chance of getting a puppy with the correct temperament.
Barbara and the Grey Curly Tails.

Thank you for your reply, i understand your advice and take it on board.  using the correct terminology has bought up the same pages on the search engines.  I have been on the Kennel Club website and contacted a few breeders.  I am not considering any puppy from anyone except a registered breeder, hopefully recommended.

thanks for your help
