Be very clear in your own mind whether you want a working or show bred pup and insist that all the relevant health checks are done. With the small gene pool this breed unfortunately has a LOT of health problems - also, some lines have temperament issues which appear to manifest more in the males.

I had great fun watching the videos on th working website. Big chunky dogs but oh so busy and fit. :D

OOOh you learn something new everyday ... it is true .. we have one around here who we meet everyday and me being me thought he was a badly bred spaniel ... His owner never says what he is just how he is as a dog .. Glad i never asked what he was crossed with ...
If you want a working type clumber have a look at www.sedgehurstclumbers.co.uk . The Zurich's have endevoured to bring the hip stats down for working clumbers and the majority of theirs are single digits with a couple double digits but well below 20. If I am correct the mean score for clumbers is 43. Have watched these fun little spaniels in working tests and they are super jolly dogs.
A Golden is born half trained, a springer dies half trained. Where are my running shoes ???
