Previous Next Up Topic Dog Boards / Rainbow Bridge / Little lil is now resting in peace at 8 1/2 weeks old
By Jo_bates (*) [gb] Date 04.06.08 22:06 GMT
Its was with great sadness and a broken heart that today I had to do the hardest thing i have ever had to do in my life. I had to have my dogs 8 ½ week old puppy  go to rainbow bridge. Thanks to all the help I have had from people on here who helped me see what was wrong with her she had  Megaoesophagus. She was being sick as soon as she ate anything for the past 2 weeks. I was giving her fresh boiled chicken in small peaces. And to the vets every day for antibiotics, but to no avail. She was only 1.5 kgs and got phenomena. being sick every time she ate. She was so hungry. But she had bright eyes and  the best sweetest face ever.
The last thing that she did was collapse in the garden  the vets had told me it was time and kinder to let her go. But I wanted one more try.
I brought her home to say good buy to her Mum Nan and sister. Then we went back to the vets and we let her go. I was with my best friend ever as she stayed with little lil. I was so upset that I had to go outside.  She is now in a better place on my Mums lap being spoilt.
Thank you Lilly for the love that you gave to us all in your small and short life. I will never ever forget you. God bless my little one. Mummy XXXXX RUN FREE baby .........

You are very brave, it is very hard to do this even though had to be done.  I had to do the same with a wee bitch we named 'Star'. I still gave her her reg name that I had choosen and K.C. registered her. this made me feel better, I felt then she was someone.  we buried her in our garden,  reading your post made me feel the sadness that you are feeling all over again.  Just isnt fair is it.

Tragic, so sorry for your loss of such a young one.
The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue.

So sorry to hear about little Lil, you did the right thing. I lost a pup the same age last year in very similiar circumstances so have an idea how you're feeling. In time hopefully you will look back and smile. Play free of pain at the bridge Lil forever young, a playmate for my Squirrel.

I am so sorry. It is one of the hardest decisions anyone has to make I think, to decide when it is time to say goodbye. Always done out of love and it is so obvious that she was loved. She was beautiful. I am writing through tears, my heart goes out to you. Run free Lilly.

hi my name is tash. i was given 2 miniature daschunds by a  stranger. he said that they were 10 weeks old and were bought for his girlfriend and she did not want them so she broke it up with him. they guy said he paid 3 grand for them and i couldnt leave them with someone who did not want them. so my boyfriend and i took them in. we noticed something was wrong but we would take them to the vet in the morning as it was late when we took the puppys home. the next morning i went to check on them and one was dead. my whole world shattered right there and then. i had already misscaried a child a month before that how can i lose a beautifull puppy to. but i had the one still alive to think of. we took snoopy to the local rspca and they kept him in intensive care for 3 days. i found out that the had a virus called parvo and my snoopy was lucky but my other baby is in heaven with your little puppy and my baby and they are all looking after each other. your babys in a better place and so are mine. good luck and time heals xx

I'm so very sorry to hear your sad news.
It is heatbreaking taking a youg puppy to the vet knowing youre not going to bring them home again with you.
I had  to do it a few years back to my wiemie puppy at 11 half weeks it seems so unfair doesnt it,theyre so young, but youve done the right thing.
I send you all my love , I hope you feel better soon
thinking of you
Run free little Lily
