Hi guys

We have just moved into a new house and think the previous owners dogs have peed on the kitchen floor.  The floor also is shiney gloss white tiles! not suitable with four dogs! Im looking at different floor types and wondered what you guys have.  Should i look for other non slip tiles or a friend of mine has amtico which looks nice.  Any ideas which will look modern, suitable for 4 dogs and have enough grip?

I can highly recommend slate tiles.  Grippy for the dogs feet, clean up well and look beautiful!

I have wood effect karndean in the living room and kitchen which runs through both and have slate tiles in the hall and cloakroom downstairs.  I have no problems with either and none get slippy when wet.

I have slate and love them. Clean up like new.

Thats what I have and I love it. Easy to clean, not noisy with paws on (like my old laminate was), and not slippery.

I have slate-effect Laminate, it's wearing well and less likely to break stuff if it drops BUT.....  I still would prefer real slate   OH didn't want to pay for it or spend the time laying it   If we ever replace tho.......

Slate tiles in my kitchen too.   Mine are not cold though, even in the Winter, which is surprising because my kitchen is not heated.  They are quite thick so I imagine they retain heat well from the rest of the house.

I have the slate effect laminate in my kitchen, hallway and downstairs loo - it shows every mark.  One bug bear that I have is when my son makes a cup of tea or a sandwich, I find sugar and bread crumbs all over the floor and it really annoys me....I cant leave them and find myself vacuuming several times each day. I would love the black granite tiles with sparkly bits in but aswell as being very expensive, I doubt that they would be very practical with the dogs as I bet they are quite slippy.

Slate is good, I had that where I used to live.

Where I am now I have a single piece of vinyl - easy to clean, good grip for the dogs and easy to put down (relatively, but no grouting to do).

I have black granite worktops with sparkly bits. It looks lovely when it's just been cleaned and polished but the rest of the time it just looks smeary and dull. I wouldn't choose it again as it's very hard work to keep it looking reasonable.

I have the Black Galaxy work top too.  I have found a wonder product to clean it.  Method Daily Granite Cleaner, it is brilliant, a quick spray and a wipe over.  I buy mine in Waitrose, but you can look online for your nearest supplier [url=http://www.methodproducts.co.uk/daily_granite.html/[/url]

It is the only thing I have found to bring it up sparkling everytime with no effort.

Buy a glass cleaning cloth too.  I found it works better then an dish cloth.

My local Waitrose (very small) didn't have any today so I'm going to try a bigger store tomorrow. I haven't told my OH about this wonder product yet - I'm going to dazzle him with my shiny worktops tomorrow! HAHAHAAAAAA!

Ive got tiles they look a bit like brick coloured a nice warm colour and they hardly ever look grubby. I tend to wash them on my hands and knees once a week but apart from that a quick vac and there fine. B&Q specials abou £9 a sq meter really cheap but look great.
When we re-build Im having altro non-slip which we use commercially and its great, seamless and sparkly finish great colours too. The rest of the house will be laminated (oh and tiled wet rooms).

We have 2 very efficient dog hoovers - highly recommended
One of them has just spent a week at my Mum's trying to lick the pattern off one floor tile, I can imagine what he'd make of sparkly bits!!?

I must remember this thread when we redo our floor next year!  Made me smile

I have just laid my 2nd lot of Rhino Flooring. First batch lasted 15 years. Replaced more because it was dated than worn out.
