I am thinking about feeding my boy on  tinned Butchers tripe and mixer, he's not that keen on dry food.  I was wondering if there are any advantages/disadvantages over feeding wet or dry food.  I noticed that the tinned Butchers doesn't seem to contain anywhere near the same list of ingredients as a complete dry food.  I don't know if this is a good thing or not.  Should I add any extra supplements to the tinned food?  Will tinned food put on extra weight?  I don't want him to gain any weight.  Can anyone who feed this as the main food give me any idea how many tins a Lan would need.

I would recommend Naturediet.  It would be cheaper to buy it direct (www.naturediet.co.uk) or from www.vetuk.co.uk.  Naturediet original contains tripe, lamb and chicken.  It doesn't have a long ingredients list, but rest assured, it contains everything your dog needs.  My dogs have been eating it for years and they are in briliant nick.  (I feed them dried food in the morning - normally Burns - just because it is quicker and they like something to crunch and Naturediet in the evening with half a bag of steamed frozen veggies each). 

The new canned food from Arden Grange is also a possibility;better for sure than Butchers in terms of ingredients.

You do not add to add extras to any food which is sold as a complete food; does not matter if it is wet or dry.

I picked up some tins of Bozita the other day from a show and my dogs go mental for it. Its Swedish and has fairly basic ingredients.

Burns now do a tinned food too, maybe a bit pricey but has good  ingrediants.

Nearly all the good brands (naturediet, RC, burns, etc) now do a tinned variety.  But have you considered going one step further and going on a raw diet.  I have all my dogs on it as many years ago I had a fussy eater who did not like complete and I hated the smell of tinned dog food.  He did so well on it and had such a lovely shine to his coat that I switched the rest over and have never looked back since and do great business with my local butcher so he is happy too.  Their are many threads on the raw diet just do a quick search for them.
