Does anyone know of anything i could give my 9 week old puppy to chew on and keep him occupied??? We bought all the kongs and kong stuff and have tried stuffing them with various things but he just wont touch them!!!  I would like to get him somekind of chew stick but im not a fan of rawhides and the others seem to be for puppies over 4 months old. Any ideas???

Try a bone, it may be bigger than him depending on breed but it will keep him occupied.
Dont buy the cooked ones from the pet shop, too salty
Go to the butchers and ask for a part beef bone (raw) or a knuckle, try to avoid skinny rib bones if you have a big breed dog.  They will usually have some from the meat they have de-boned that day.  Our butcher gives them to us for free as we buy a lot of meat from him but they may charge you a couple of quid but not much.

They really love a raw bone at any age.

Your pup may be more inclined to have a go at a Kong if it's stuffed with his nomal food.  If you have dry kibble just soak it until you get a stiff porridge.  If you need to help with teething you can put this in the freezer so it lasts longer too.  Make sure you are using the puppy kongs as they are smaller and softer.  You'll soon know when it's time to change (when small bits are being nibbled off!) ...

Tiny bits of cheese mixed in with the contents can incite them to explore whilst not affecting digestion over much.  I used to keep my kibble paste in the fridge and just add a few extra's to make it more interesting.  We got to the stage where one of his meals each day was delivered in a kong or a molecube ball (sp?) for entertainment, and to slow his eating down a bit.

I don't like rawhide chews either but the trainer at puppy classes recommended the flat ribbon ones.  less flabby when wet, less volume to avoid blockages and a good shape for puppy chewing.

Have you looked at the puppy version of the Nylabones, come in different sizes and seem very safe, zuma reckons very chewable - had 1st when I got him at 14 weeks.

I've given Nylabone puppy starter bones to younger pups before, they say over 4 months but I've never had a problem. Have you tried the Kong chew sticks, I smear the ridges with peanut butter and the pups seems to find them easier than the standard bell shaped Kongs
