Im in the process of changing my 2 and 1/2 yr old lab bitch from JWB to AG. I went for the chicken flavour but I've just noticed there is a fairly big difference in the price of the chicken and the lamb versions ( chicken £33, lamb £24). Does anyone know if there is a particular reason for this, is there a big difference in quality. I wouldnt have thought so since they are from the same brand but if im honest I dont know too much about dog food.

Also since I've changed her food a few people have commented that she has put on weight (not a good thing!) so I was thinking of trying the light version of AG, any pros and cons of doing this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Sounds like you may have found a special offer on the Lamb version as the price is normally about the same for the chicken and Lamb with the others being dearer.  I used to feed the chicken, but due to my Friend getting me supplies of the Lamb on special offer at the wholesalers I now mostly use the Lamb.  In the past I avoided the Lamb versions as my dogs didn't seem to like them, but they love the AG, and it suits them well.

Yes I found that AG was putting weight on my older dog.  He was previously on 80g of Nutro per meal and he's now on app 8g less.  I know it doesn't sound a lot but it is an extra 20 portions per bag which is pretty significant.   My younger dog was just changing to adult food when I switched brands so his portions were being adjusted anyway but I can see he is now on less too.  Both dogs are looking very well on it though and I have been very pleased by the level of customer service AG offers and deliveries are often quicker than they advise.

A few months ago I was showing Chicken and Rice as cheaper but I've checked my 'breeder bag' prices today with AG and it's currently £26.19 for C&R and £26.89 for L&R.

Perhaps you could just amend her portions?  I could see weight changes in both my dogs with only a few grammes difference in portion sizes.  I weigh each portion now as I was surprised at how inaccurate I was when guestimating, so in additional to preventing over feeding, it's saving me money too!!
