Does the kennel club allow breeders to own more than one affix? If so how many of you have a different affix for your separate breeds? This is something i am thinking about doing.

I'm sure the Kennel Club would be thrilled if you wanted a different one for each dog, never mind each breed - it's  not cheap.

I have one and a half affixes LOL - my own, and one in partnership, all for the same breed.

We have had our affix for some years now but if has the part of the breed name in it, thats the only reason we are thinking of taking out another one, i think it is 70.00 first year then 20.00 every year after.. :-)

I know of someone with a different affix for each of her breeds. You have to pay the £70 to start with, then the annual fee for each, so it's not something I would want to do. I have enough problems remembering to pay one every year! And that one is paid by DD (£17 per year this way)!

Yes you can have as many affix names as you like.  I know one kennel who has 3!!!  One for their main breed.  One for anything else they breed on occasion (Usually her OH's dogs).  And the daughter has just got her own so thats 3 at one address.
Have my own single affix set up as DD but always forget its due and end up scratching my head for 10 mins thinking what is that DD for.

I'm waiting for final approval of my affix (fingers and everything else crossed)  it was only around my 11th choice.  Make sure your list is very long of possibles!!

is there a way though of checking what people have already?

There is a book however with the nature of affix applications it is out of date when the new edition is printed. The only other way is to phone the KC up and ask them about your choice they will usually tell you if its taken or not.

They ask you to name three in order of preference when you submit your request for an affix.  I got my second choice but actually like it better than my first now :-D
The list is expensive to buy and out of date really quickly.
Try googling the affix you want and see if anything comes up, if it does then its taken.
