Has anyone got HD tv and if so is it better?
At the moment AFAIK it's only available through Sky or BBC3 on cable - when viewing it is
far superior, but only of course if you have an HD readyTV to go with it
Why bite when a simple growl will do

We have Sky HD with our HD TV and the picture quality is amazing - not on every channel yet and not every programme either - one thing I do notice is the picture quality is great but the sound volume is lower - not sure why and might just be our TV!

We have an HD TV. I really wasn't that bothered about it but you really notice the difference when you've been watching something HD and then switch back to normal.

Not got one yet, the one I have was one of the first widescreen t.v's that came out, gosh how long ago was that!!!!!!

Our TV is 22 years old and still going strong - I'll wait till it breaks before we replace it.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

We have an HD TV but not got round to getting Sky HD yet. But OH has an HD lead for his PS3 and says the difference in the picture before we got it is amazing.

In the last 15 years I've had to replace our main TV 3 times, they just don't make them like they used to. We've just got a HD Tv it is brilliant, love it, but I bet it won't last.

You're right - and it's not just tv's they don't make like they used to. Washing machines, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners, tumble driers, fridges, freezers, hairdriers....I'm sure it's all built to only last a few years (if you're lucky)!

My hubbie got the HD TV then a PS3 to watch blueray films. The quality is stunning, in fact even old pre-recorded video tapes look pretty good on that TV!

We got Sky HD but quite honestly we never notice the difference! Perhaps our TV is not such good quality. I only went along with it as long as I could have the old box in another room so I could watch what I want! Multiroom is much better value

Yep, we do.
The adverts currently running showing 'true colour' HD stuff looks almost 3D. We dont even have an HD box whatever that is. But the TV is fairly new rather large and fab.

Not just you, ours is the same.
Yes Ive got a Viera and yes it is better we have skyHD as well and I can tell the difference.

Thanks for that - have often wondered LOL!

Do you have a HD-TV as well?

We have an HD tv though it was one of the bottom of the range ones - maybe we should invest in a better one sometime.

Oh that's a shame as I definitely notice the picture quality - its incredible
we bought a 42" HD TV from Tesco it lasted 6 months then stopped working we took it back and got a replacement that lasted around 2 months before packing up - so again took it back and got another one but this time a different well known make that only lasted about 3 weeks before packing up, took it back - my money back and have gone back to watching my old rear projection tv that I bought secondhand a few years ago, they don't make things like they used to !!!!!

we have skyHD as wellWe rang yesterday to get Sky HD but were told that as we are existing customers we would have to pay an installation charge. If we were new customers we would get the box at the same price but not have to pay the installation charge! OH told them he thought it was disgusting and said we wouldn't be bothering!! Been researching and there is a free view HD box coming out with the hard drive to record programmes so we are thinking of cancelling sky and getting one of those.

We have SkyHD and two HD TVs. I have to admit, the HD TVs (a Samsung and a Panasonic) are great, and all pictures look better on them. However, I don't think the HD channels on Sky are sufficiently better than the normal channels to justify the additional price. I mean, at the end of the day, unless you are constantly watching Sci Fi films with lots of special effects, does it really matter if you can see all the crow's feet and bad skin on Eastenders in super definition?

I say that currys (or was it Comet, always get them mixed up) were offering Sky HK for £75 but not certain if that was for new customers or not. I have a two Phillips HD TV (1 32 inch and 1 21 inch) and they are absolutely fantastic cannot praise it enough.
