What should you do if you are elegible for a particularly class e.g novice/postgrad at the time of entry but by the time the show happens, you are no longer elegible (other than celebrate!)

Also i've been advised that it would be better to enter the higher classes e.g limit/open as if you win that class you are more likely to go on and win the ticket as the judge is more likely to place the winner of open rather than the winner of postgrad .  I'm not sure about that - mainly cos i dont feel brave enough to enter the limit/open classes and surely if your dog is good enough to win the ticket, then it wont matter if it wins postgrad or open to get to the final lineup?

Not sure that my post makes any sense but would be interested to hear what people think - assuming anyone can make sense of this post!!

My understanding is that you have to enter the class in which your dog is elgible(sp) on the day of the show.

It says in my schedule here that if they are entered into the wrong class then the secretary would move the dog into the next rightful class, which in the case of an older dog would be Open.
Slightly different in the puppy classes.

Qualification is based on a date quoted in the schedule - believe it is around 7 days prior to entries closing, but don't quote me - so if you've qualified out since then that is no problem, you are still eligible for the class.

You'll get people argue both sides of your other point. I'm inclined to think that if you can't beat it in the challenge, you won't beat it in the class.

Also to the post above it does say in the schedule

In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of entries shall be counted when entering any class.

Eligibility is counted to 7 days before postal entries close for the show.

So you could be showing a dog in Novice that has become a champion by the time the show comes around.

I could be wrong Brainless (no schedules to hand since on-line entries became available) but isn't novice an exception to the usual rule?

It is a fact that most ticket winners come from the open class, then limit and very occasionally junior, puppy or post grad. Personally I always think of post grad as a class for young dogs just out of junior or older no hopers. I wouldn't enter a dog in PG that was older than 3, and would never ever enter a novice class

As long as you were eligible for the class at the time of entry, there's no problem

How old is Winston now?  That would affect my decision about which class to enter.  I would only enter a junior in novice if I was after junior warrant points, otherwise it's not a class I would enter.  I wouldn't enter in limit until my dog is pretty mature.

No because entries can't be altered, transfering to a different class only applies if an error was made that applied at the time that eligibility is counted from.

Nope the rules apply to any class @ any type of show that has a win limiter rule

hi Ridgilover Winson is 2 in December - i had him entered in Novice today (we've only had a first twice since puppy classes) - however v pleased to say that we won it and then went on to win reserve best boy so i'm well chuffed!!  I think this now means we are out of novices now.  I guess we'll give limit a try for the next one i enter - the dogs look so much more mature than him in Open though so v scary - i think he'll always look like a puppy to me - and behave like it too!!

The judge is Mrs Melanie Dunn and yes there are Veteran classes.

Depends upon how much the judge likes the dog-
My boy won his first CC in Post grad
Ive also heard of puppies getting CCs as well
