Took Sal (SBT) to the vets today for her booster and to pick up some stronghold. Came out of the vet Surgery and went round to the desk to pay. At the desk was a man and lady with a Jack Russell his wife went out while he was paying as the door opened a chap stepped in with a Xbreed terrier type of dog.. who was straining at the end of his lead to get at Sal, and this JR...the Xbreed was growling and barking...not overly friendly. I leaned against the wall out of reach (still inside the vets) and got Sal to sit down, she just laid down head on my foot (ears up though while watching this Xbreed) the chap with the JR backed up to by me....his dog had a few goes back at the Xbreed then he picked him up......ahhh to have a breed I could pop under an arm.
The vet came round to see what the fuss was and the chap with the X breed *this is where I almost lost it* said to the vet...."Its the Staffie" (yes mine who was lying flat out staffie style head on my trainer) before I or the JR owner could repy the vet said "Sir, I think you need the opticians opposite, as I see your dog lunging barking growling....you unable or unwilling to stop him and the Stafford lying down with her head on her owners foot....my perception is its your dog....I'll hold the door while you leave"
Could have knocked me over with a feather, well I know my vet is good but tell you what he's gone right up in my estimation....may have lost the Xbreed owner as a customer but I'll be there forever.
Wow! Pat on the back for the vet, and for Sal being so cool about it all.

Ahh bless and your vet deserves a medal!!
My dogs aren't my whole life, but my life wouldn't be whole without them. 05/01/08 11 stone 12 lbs
Oh and sadly when I had paid and left the chap with the Xbreed was no where in sight.....otherwise I would have smiled nicely and then waved as I drove off...........as I am a typical Stafford owner.

Well done Sal

And how good of the vet too
Now that is where the Cesar Milan treatment would have been acceptable, BUT NOT ON THE DOG I hasten to add, but for the owner
A sandwich needs dog hair

God all mighty!!! That did shock me, wasnt expecting that response!!! Good on them!!

Oh, don't you just love the vet

This is the type of thing where you really wish there had been a camera crew handy. It would have shown a certain charity that pedigrees are nice dogs, and that staffies are dog and people friendly.
Life is not a bed of roses but a comedy of errors

Good on the vet. woohoo
The more i experience men, the more i appreciate dogs.
Wow! What a great vet! That's fantastic.
What a magical moment!
Ha Ha just picturing the vet doing an "alpha roll " on the idiot !!
Its so good when your dog shows what they can do so well big pat and what a great vet
yipee,
a vet who stands up for what's right.
i would stay there too after that.
newfs are like a box of chocolates , you can't have just one.

Thank you all very much, I thnk it was the emergence of the vet that caused the bloke to speak......she was good very good but she nearly always is. She is a Stafford and a a well balanced one at that.

Firstly well done to Sal, you must be very proud and, pat on the back for your Vet that X he stood no nonsense from that owner.
The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue.
