Foo / Can anyone help me find this poem for my Grandads Funeral
I dont post on here very often but I read the forum every day. I wondered if there was anyone that could help me. My Grandad passed away on Sunday, he was the closest person Ive ever had to a dad and Im completely devastated.
Ive just had a phone call from my sister who is trying to find a piece of poetry for his funeral.
Apparantly this poem was on a TV advert for something quite a while ago, it was various landscape scenes with the actual poetry written on the screen in script type writing, each scene had a few lines of the poem which appeared slowly on the screen. From memory it was quite a poignant poem and by a famous poet. There was a lake with birds flying over it at some point. The ad may have been for something like the Lake District or something. She cant remember what. I remember the advert so it wasnt regional and we live in completely different places.
Can anyone help find this poem please?
Thankyou.
xx
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

I posted at the same time as JG,I hope that's the one

sorry about your grandad. Thats a lovely poem, we had my nans funeral yesterday, I read two poems and only got as far as the 2nd verse of the first before I burst into tears
I did make it through - eventually !!
whats the point in dieting ??
>I hope that's the one
I'm pretty sure it is - I remember the advert! I think it was for Centre Parcs, but didn't really notice because I was just enjoying the images and the words!
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
I'm sincerely sorry for your loss

The poem JG linked to is beautiful - I hope it's the right one, but if not I'm sure the one you had in mind is equally lovely

Blessings to you and your family,
Teri
Why bite when a simple growl will do
