This is a Finnish breed I have always admired and one day I would not mind owning one.
They make great working dogs and are extremely healthy breed. Proper dog shaped dog and every single one I have met has had a great temperament...
I know in UK they have Finnish Lapphunds but I have seen no reference anywhere to the Lapponian Herder.
Does anybody know if there are any in the UK?

Sorry Noora, but no breed nor crossbreed is totally healthy!!  We were told the same about our breed but a number of illnesses are cropping up in countries like ours that health test!    Although saying that our worst ever hipscore is about half of most other breeds so they're not to bad.

Please anyone bringing in new breeds do all the health tests that you can such as eyes, hips etc.

I am aware of the illnesses in the breed, I meant they are generally very healthy breed (compared to many).
Finns do health test, probably more than most countries and most breeds have restrictions on registrations too (relating to the health results).
I have to say I think it is only eye testing with Lapponian Herder but people do generally get the hips checked too.

Neither am I assuming even though all the ones I have met have had great temperaments all of them would!

I don't think I would import one of these dogs as my heart is and will probably always be with Leos, would loved to have one as a pet/hobbyist dog one day IF they were available here .
Seems like the breed has not landed in UK yet.
