Hi everyone,

Please can people keep their fingers (and paws!) crossed for Stitch tomorrow - after nearly 5 years of trying numerous options to relieve Stitch's anal gland problems, my vet and I have finally agreed that the best option is for Stitch to have his glands removed.

I have to take him in tomorrow morning for the op, and I'm sooo nervous. I know it is a fairly straightforward op, and my vet and I have had several good talks about what to expect, but I'm still nervous about putting Stitch under anasthetic.

Anyways, I'm not at work for the next few days, so will probably be offline until Monday, but if I can I'll pop on here and let you know how it went.

Just an update - all went well and Stitch actually came home on Thursday night (I was expecting the vets to keep him in over night)

He looked a little bit like a baboon (!) and was verrrry sleepy, but he's pretty much back to normal now. He will have to wear his lampshade until the end of this week we think, which means a bit more of the scraping and crashing around chair legs, but other than that everything went really well and Stitch will now be far more comfortable than he was before.

It is funny taking him for a walk though, it's a bit like walking a leaf hoover, I keep having to stop and empty his 'bucket' as he scoops up all sorts of debris in it, even on a short stroll!!

Thanks for all the well wishes.

Claire :-)

Very pleased to hear Stitch is doing well. Of course you will need to re paint the door frames by the time he has his lampshade off.
The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue.

I'm so glad all went well.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year xxx
