We are going to the show on Sunday. And as the weather has been bad I am not shore if I should go in wellies? Anyone on here been before and what should I expect ?

I would wear wellies, there are quite a few roads around newark and notts show ground but im sure there will be plenty of mud too - especially with the weather we have been having lately.
whats the point in dieting ??

Dress warmly, the Newark venue is freezing this time of year. Avoid the toilets if you can LOL. Unless your ring is outside you shouldn't need wellies if you park close enough to the halls but if you end up walking across the grass for any distance then yes it can be muddy of course.

for some reason I was think it was a country show -- der !! ive been to shows there this time of year, never needed wellies as they have always been indoors but even inside with the heating on its been really cold !!
whats the point in dieting ??

that's one thing I was not shore of. if it will be inside or out?
If its outside I will be showing in my big rain coat but if its inside I can dress a bit more nice lol

Shows at Newark are usually inside this time of year -sometimes GSDs are outside but no other breeds. It should say in the schedule if any breeds are outdoors. I doubt any are.

that's great. I was hoping it would be inside. its our first show

newark is a quite a clean venue, rings are usually indoors which are all concrete so not usually much mud
it is always v cold at newark even in the summer so dress warm

thanks all. will take my warm coat

Just to add confirmation that it's freezing at Newark - warm socks, loads of layers. You might as well be outside in fact it's probably warmer! Have fun though, let us know how you get on.
They also have huge blowers going which can scare younger dogs.
Got to be honest when the blowers are going I dont find it particularly cold

Mind you I do tend to put myself right by a blower.
If you have a breed that needs grooming they do also have plug sockets for hairdryers but you have to get there early to get your pitch!
Its nice to be important but more important to be nice
newark can be cold at anytime of the year, dress warmly.
to get a spot for you cage, ext you need to be there early.
we have a show there on sunday

Hi Vinya, are you talking about the Bolsover open show at Newark and Notts on Sunday?
Paula

yes that's the one
J x

Thats going to be our first show too!

We will be the ones with the crazy spotty dog looking like we haven't a clue!!! (because we haven't!! LOL)
Our breeder told us to look out for the blowers on the doors and to go in without pup first to see what doors don't have the blowers on them, and take him that way.
Good luck

This is not actually about showing, but about the comments about the venue....we're going there to the New Wine (Christian!) week in July, and need to decide whether to camp or stay off-site. I'm interested in the comments about how cold it is there - which at the moment is making me feel the second option may be preferable. Obviously while they provide loos, showers etc there won't be electric hook-ups, and I have to say much as I love camping, now I'm a senior citizen lol I do feel the cold.

just to let you know Zhaan got 3rd in Any variety hound and Reserve in Any variety puppy.not bad for her first show

.and you were not kidding it was freezing .
