Im looking at three puppy foods which were recommend by my vet and wondered if you had the choice of the following foods would you choose:- (sorry if I have missed anything off this is just the piece of paper the vet give to me, so if there is any thing else which would help you make a decision let me know and I will try and get the info for you)

Your breeder should be   Have you asked them?

As with Isabel, I'd suggest you discuss with the breeder unless of course it's due to a diet related problem that your vet is suggesting an alternative food
If the latter is the case then personally I'd guage whether I want to try a new food on my dogs by the ingredients rather than the %s you've listed.  Having decided by that method I would then guage it's quality by how well my dogs liked it and, after a few weeks, how well they looked on it.

The right food is only deserving of that description if your particular dog enjoys it and thrives on it.  Anything less and IMO it is then not the right, or best, food for that particular dog

Hi thanks everyone, my breeder recomended Burns mini bites, however she wasnt growing and was actually lossing weight on it so we were looking at alternatives, and the vet suggested these three however only give me the percentages and said thats what I should go on.  Sorry.

The pup in question is a Newfie?

Are the Burns mini bites what the pups were fed on at the Breeder's?

If your pup is losing weight maybe you just aren't feeding enough?

How about adding some Naturediet/Natures Harvest/Naturesmenu?

Burn canine extra is for large breed pups. 

Hi yeah thats what the breeder had her on, we worked at increasing the amount given but she still seemed to be loosing weight, our vet breeds large breed dogs too and said burns seems to have a reputation for dogs loosing weight while on it

yes, my boy lost weight on burns as a pup, I changed him onto raw and put him back on burns last year.

That break down isn't enough as you can't see the source and other ingredients. The brands would be fine.

I think depending on the dog is also a major factor.

I personally think burns is far too low on fat and far too high on rice.

We had a huge problem with my boy not eating or gaining weight. He didn't take to the food the breeder had him on when he came to me. I found that the best complete diet i found for him, even though it wasn't quite right, though he did start to gain some weight by being on it was Arden Grange large puppy/junior food.
You can give them a call for samples, see what your dog thinks of it. Same goes with most branded food, they will send you samples..

If your vet breeds large breed dogs than I would trust any of the foods he or she recommends.  It's nice to have a vet with "real world" experience  

Of course, most of us would have an opinion between the three recommendations with regard to brand name and especially to the full list of ingredients and analysis.

To be honest, I didnt want to give the three names as I know what response I would have got lol.  However the vet suggested JWB, Pets at home own make or Wagg.  He said he personally uses wagg and has never had any problems what so ever.  I personally at the moment us wainwrights.  I was just suprised he even mentioned wagg and that he used it?  (Im now running for cover as Im prob going to get shot down now, please remember that this was the vets suggestion and not mine lol)

The ingredients (more meat based proteins) and the absence of unnecessary to the dogs additives like colour and  sugars would decide it for me.

Whatever has the highest proportion of meat and no artificial colours, preservatives or flavourings would be my choice. 

Given the vet gave you those proportions as a recommended guide though you can use that as a comparison to many other dog foods.
