Marley has around 15 small scabby lumps around his neck, hes had them about a week any ideas?  I recently changed his food-could there be a link?

He goes in all sorts, spaniel you see :-)   Ive been through his fur thouroughly and cant find anything!  So is there anything I can do to stop them biting him or is it just that time of year as hes never had them before

try him with half a clove of garlic a day, should stop any insect bites.

When you say half a clove of garlic, as that fresh as it comes and give it to them? I ask this as my boy has something similar on his back. He's on meds from the vets but nothing has stopped it. He is fully wormed and de-flead. Fed on raw. The vets think its an allergic reaction to something which has bitten him..

I also bath my dog in maleseb and also using hibiscrub as well.
RIP Bentley - such a wonderful dog to live with, never forgotten.

I bathed my dog before as its easier to see the skin, he has 3 patches with 4 bites each all on the right side!  strange!  Ive spent ages looking on line at what it could be but cant match anything.  As for the garlic, Iused to give him a capsule a day, just the human ones from Tesco, think Ill start that again, let me know if you find out what it is :-)

Well garlic fresh or in capsule form will help prevent flea bites as does brewers yeast, it is the vitamin b in the brewers yeast that prevents bites in people and animals :-)

I'm not sure what you are describing is bites though, if the vets have prescribed medication for it?

Vitamin e really helps skin and coat, as does neem shampoo from:  www.neemgenie.co.uk  which will help keep skin and coat healthy and also if there is a problem with mites.  They also have natural products to protect against tics too so might be worth a look on there.

I try only to use natural products for flea and worm prevention as I don't think chemicals administered either on the skin or taken orally are always a good thing.

I use neem shampoo on my boys about once a month at least in the shower, it smells lovlely and as I mentioned above protects against fleas and mites.  They have vitamin c and e daily, plus brewers yeast, garlic and flax seed oil, they are also fed a raw diet.

George had something similar after a run in some really long grass.  I gave him some piriton and they went away by themselves.  If they had been obviously irritating him or looked really angry I would have taken him to the vets but they totally resembled insect bites so I left them alone.
Another day, another lesson learned :-)

My vet thought he had been bitten and had an allergic reaction to it, hence the meds to bring down the reaction - made no difference though.
Nothing has changed in his diet, not changed any area we walk in, so really not sure what it is.. Its a few scabby areas on his back, base of tail and around 2 nipples.. I have also tried putting on E45 cream to the areas as they are dry, but this doesn't do anything either.
RIP Bentley - such a wonderful dog to live with, never forgotten.

You would be better putting vit e oil on the dry areas, I am not sure whether e45 would help or not but vit e does help dry areas.  Seriously think about the neem shampoo.
