Whistler do you mean that Royal Mail just have a reply sent to you, for free? I have been wondering what to do with the letters my children have written, so do I just post them to Santa care of Royal Mail?

Thanks Whistler, have posted the letters now so perhaps we will get a reply. It would make them very happy - my daughter was over the moon last week to receive a letter from the tooth fairy who she also absolutely believes in.  She said that the tooth fairy has lovely writing and should have a gold star from the teacher, well I did try my best!

LOL! I wrote to the tooth fairy to complain that I wasn't being paid in line with inflation one year :-)  My mum kept the letter.

I actually forgot one evening about the tooth fairy visit so in the morning when my daughter said that she didnt visit I sat down with her and explained that the tooth fairy probably didnt visit because she was coughing an awful lot during the night so wasnt properly asleep for the fairy to visit.  She was happ with the explanation and wrote a lovely letter apologising to the fairy for being awake because of her coughing and promising to be asleep that night (I certainly felt really guilty that night!!)  The fairy duly visited and left a little note saying sorry she didnt visit, thanking my daughter for her lovely letter and left a little something extra special (a sweet) for being such a good girl

I felt really terrible when I realised I had forgotten about the tooth fairy visit, OH was away and I was stressed out and by the time I remembered it was too late to do anything about it without spoiling things.  My daughter absolutely loved her little personal letter from the tooth fairy and still has it in her jewellery box.  :-)
Well, the wheels are in motion, no going back now!! :-o

When my children were diddy I used to waitress. It was hard work but great fun. I got to get away from being Mum and  earned some extra money. One  xmas eve we worked in fancy dress. I was dressed as Mrs Santa. After a very busy night working and a stay back after hours, I got home at about 4.30. So decided I would put the pressies on the kids beds then. I was a bit tiddly and therefore clumsy. I tripped and I woke my son up.  I had to do my best Father Christmas voice and tell him to go back to sleep right now or I would have to take the presents back. I then stumbled into bed. Then I remembered I had not bitten the carrot or sprinkled the fairy dust on the foot path. I just got myself sorted and in bed, with freezing cold feet, when two very excited kids jumped all over us. My son screaming "I saw him, I saw him, I saw Father Xmas"

My friend uses a template of a boot to sprinkle flour over to leave "snowy footprints" her kids love it and its easy to hoover up.

I remember having to leave the water for the reindeers and a carrot for each of them. they were a messy lot though, they always left behind puddles on the kitchen floor and chunks from the carrot :-o  I never worried about father Christmas having anything!!

We never had a chimney in our old house so we used to leave everything outside on a little red tray.  A glass of milk for Rudolph (not think they have thought about how he was going to drink it!!) a carrot, a little tot for Father Christmas with a mincepie and a piece of cheese...... dont ask because I dont know why we leave cheese out!!  I think we made the mistake of asking the children what they wanted to leave out they didnt want anyone to go hungry!!  Cant be hungry though because they never manage to finish any of it!! ;-)

Also just before their bedtime the children will go outside in their PJ's (and dressing gowns etc of course!!) and sprinkle reindeer dust (again started because the children were worried the reindeer wouldnt know where to go!) all along the pavements and down our pathway finishing right by the little tray.  Most of FC's gifts are left in the front room but he always leave a small gift (usually a box of maltessers!) on their beds and whilst he is doing this, his reindeer are shaking their bells outside the window!! ;-) :-D

My children, practically 10, 10, 8 and 5 still believe.  The twins have never questioned it although I do think they are starting to get a little suss but havent said but then again we have never come outright and said anything either.  They are only children for such a short space of time (I was told when I wasnt quite 6 by older children at school).
Well, the wheels are in motion, no going back now!! :-o
