Would it be possible to have a training forum, related to obedience, agility, trials, sledding, etc? It would be great to get advice from others on such matters. Please?
By michelled (*****) [gb] Date 18.11.04 09:16 GMT
yes that would be good! instead of sticking it in behaviour or general

could call it "dog sports"

I was just thinking of making a simular post then read yours i think it would be great and 'dog sports' would be a brilliant name im always confused as to where to put those sort of questions

On another board I go on we have just reduced on the number of different board. We found that people only went on boards which they "Thought" they were interested so that only a relatively small number of people posted on any particular board. It is by having a free interchange of ideas that we move training along in all spears. Creating more boards would only tend to isolate various activities.

But a lot dont. I'm just giving my thoughts on the matter which I have every right to do. You may accept them or reject them as you feel.

I get my head bitten off every time I dare to step into anything obedience and I get rather **** off with it. You people on here who take part in obedience all seem to want to make it some sort of elitist past time and appear to think that no one else knows a thing. In future I will stay out of it.
By michelled (*****) [gb] Date 03.01.05 16:02 GMT
do you?
i hadnt noticed that?
its not in the least elitist.
anyway i thought we were dicussing a dog sports board to cater for WT/agility/sledding/field trails/obedience/ sheeptrials etc
not just a obedience board.
personally i think it would be good so the queries & questions go to the correct board, then those who dont like it CAN stay out of it. what is your problem?????

<<what is your problem????? >>

I rest my case! Politeness costs nothing you know. Rudeness does not endear you to anybody.

With all respect, John - I do feel that you jumped onto the defensive a bit quickly in your earlier post and that Michelle wasn't being a bit rude - merely pointing out that - as I do - she doesn't read the board by individual forums. It's a shame if threads descend into personal comments when the original intention was only to ask a question :-(

I finished my post at the start of this thread with "Regards, John" Michelled finished hers with no less that 7 question marks. Do you think that was a friendly reply? I don't Daisy.
By Daisy (*****) [gb] Date 03.01.05 16:56 GMT
I am sure that Michelle could answer that for herself - but I certainly didn't take it as an unfriendly reply - merely stating that she reads the showing board even though she doesn't show. I personally don't feel the need for more categories - but, as I stated, I try to read all threads, at least at the beginning.

I am not going to continue any further as I feel that I should have stayed out of this from the beginning :-(

If you are happy with the tone of her posts then you obviously see them differently to me Daisy. Anyway, from the amount of support the idea received I doubt it will get official sanction. Just three people on the whole of the forum is hardly overwhelming.

I think that it depends how people read the Forum :-) I don't read specific boards - just the Active Topics and choose the threads that look interesting. If the topic doesn't interest me then I don't read any further posts - but I try to read most threads at least once - that's how I learn things (or not :D :D :D )

I think to put the working activities in a seperate board would ba a great idea. I know lots of people who would post on there. The people i know dont come here to talk sledding etc because there isnt a seperate area for them. They go elsewhere.

I too read every board on here regardless of whether that area interests me for the simple reason i might learn something. I dont show yet but intend to in the future, so i read the showing questions and answers in order to try and educate myself a little and gain some understanding of the world i plan to walk into knowing very little.

So that is 4 posts for the introduction of a seperate topic board John.

I know hun but as it was said earlier, not everyone reads this board.

Maby a poll should be put up on General Board and see what others who dont read here think?

Or even just a trial board set up?
