I've been thinking about breeding, in general I'm not planning on breeding from Holly, and have come up with a question that I can't find an answer to - can anyone on here help me????? The breeds below are just examples and before anyone asks I'm not planning on doing this. It's just something that occured to me late last night and I don't know the answer :D

If a GSD bitch was mated with a GSD male and then a couple of days later she was mated with a Labrador male would you end up with a mixed litter? ie some pure GSD and some GSD x Labrador.

Anyone know the answer ?????

It's entirely possible, probable, & has happened before..... that litters have more than one sire. Now it would be easy to test with DNA to determine who belonged to what family tree. Obviously, this is not desired nor encouraged :D

Yes, it can happen - in humans as well! Somewhat smaller litters but twins can have different fathers

You obviously don't watch enough chat shows on American TV (maury, Rikki, Jenny Jones, sally J R, Jerry Springer etc), although I'm not implying that Christine has enough time to do this ....... Although I can't believe it, it apparently IS possible for twins to have different fathers if the "mating" is that close (and believe me, with some " white trash" it appears to be :D :D :D)

Also, if a young lady (?) has slept with identical twins it is absolutely impossible to know which one is the father.

I'm glad to report that thankfully, I now learn less of this rubbish and now actually have a bit more of a life and get out more...... (sighs of relief all round)

Having been a first time puppy owner since December, between then and about April, when the mock was asleep I would sit in a daze, being thankful for the peace and "trying" to relax with this (although it's actually all quite stressful really)

Yep, Beth's right.
Fraternal twins have two separate eggs....technically they're siblings, just born at the same time. Both eggs can be fertilized by two fathers. (ick factor is huge here ) BTW, you can get pregnant up to 72 hours after the 'intersecting' event. That's what makes the two father scenario more believable.

Identical twins are identical down to the same dna strand (pretty certain of this, not absolutely positive). But their egg split from one single egg. Therefore, if two identical twins marry another set of IT.... their children, genetically, are not cousins, but actually siblings.

Isn't science a blast? :P

One of the chat shows had a pair of Identical twin brothers who had fallen out over a woman. they had both dated her, and she had children with both, though married only one i think! Try explaining that to the kids!
